![]() There have been countless times where I was able to avoid conflict by simply not giving someone trying to provoke the response they were looking for. That's a shame, in my view, the flat affect is evolutionarily a positive thing. It seems like most people are insecure about how they are being perceived so neutral faces and a lack of positive feedback are seen as threats & they project those insecurities outward. And maybe that ties into why the flat affect scares people. I don't have the social skills or general will to effectively mask, but I bet some of us get really good at it. That can be frustrating, sometimes amusing and often to our advantage. People really see/hear what they want to see/hear and no more. I've had the same experience of explaining my diagnosis to someone (flat affect, etc) and still had to sit through their attempts to provoke reactions out of me, monitor my reactions, etc. They basically said I hardly tried/didn't engage which was the total opposite of how I felt and how it was and honestly pissed me off reading that because it showed they didn't really listen. ![]() Some of the more common questions have been gathered in the following megathreads.Īdvertisment Career DAE Drugs Meta Media Meme New User Philosophy Rant Relationships Resources Symptoms/Traits Therapy Other Resources to learn about Schizoid Personality Disorder What is Schizoid Personality Disorder?, What are traits of Schizoid Personality Disorder?, and other FAQ ![]() No advertising without moderator permission.Īll memes belong to r/SchizoidAdjacent please post your SzPD-related memes there. ![]() You can comment as much as you like.īe civil no harassment, discrimination or hate speech. ![]() No more than 2 posts max per 24 hour period by any one person.
